As the Entrepreneurship Idea Project comes to an end, I can look back and say with confidence that I think my idea has gone through many necessary steps and modifications. Beginning with my first blog post with my original idea of just a Musical Tweeting option on Twitter, I can see that although this was a good starting point, my idea was quite underdeveloped at the time. As each week passed, the information I was learning in lecture from Professor Rubin enhanced the content and sophistication of my project idea immensely. If it were not for our lecture and tangent on App Worlds, I would have never thought to take the different Twitter extensions I created and put them into something concise like a Twitter App World.
After my idea of the Musical Tweeting option, I developed a resume add option after listening to the lecture on how important Twitter is becoming in the job world. From there, my idea expanded even further into creating a voice recognition ability of updating Twitter from one's phone. It was not until around Blog Post #5 that I realized that while all these ideas were satisfactory, they did not come together into one clean-cut idea. This is when I made the connection from one of our recent lectures. Ultimately, one of Professor Rubin's tangents helped me come up with the concept I stand by presently.
My final project idea consists of a Twitter Application World that has different downloadable profile attachments like a musical tweeting option, a resume add option, and a voice recognition tweeting option. In the musical tweeting option, this would give Twitter users the opportunity to let their followers know what their current music selection is by giving them the name of the song and artist in a hash tag format with an audio clip link to either iTunes or Youtube. The resume add option would be other application one could download to their Twitter profile in hopes of catching the attention of businesses in order to make oneself appear more profitable. This application would come with the security of resume privacy so that the ability for followers to view it had customizable settings. And finally the last application I developed was the voice recognition option which gives Twitter users the ability to update their profile more efficiently by calling Twitter and vocalizing their tweet which would then be transcribed.
Throughout the project I reviewed other peers blogs as well. My Mood Radio by Vania Myers (http://mymoodradio.blogspot.com/), Live Life to the Fullest by Helen Peng (http://helenology.blogspot.com/), and Press Pass Productions by Brent Tanaka (http://presspasspresentations.blogspot.com/), were the classmate's blogs I commented on for this project. They all had quite insightful ideas and were very interesting to read. As well as the three peer blog posts, I also reviewed a professional blogger to get a better idea of the blog world overall. I submitted a blog commenting on Duct Tape Marketing and the thoughts I had on his opinions regarding Twitter. Overall, my experience with this project has been a good one and it has taught me something important about the creation of entrepreneurship ideas. I know now that nothing ever comes to you right away and that you must build your ideas through knowledge and experience to come up with something full-proof and profitable.

Week #7 - Networks
In our class discussion of networks, I immediately made several connections to my Entrepreneurship Project Idea. Seeing as Twitter is an Internet based concept, networks instantly became a relevant topic to my project. Just like any other website out there, Twitter has its own IP address, domain name, and packet of information sent out daily that makes it unique from other websites.
A combination of the web protocols http and https are also important aspects of Twitter. In terms of security and safety with networks, https is an important protocol that reminds users that there information is being kept safe. This might appear on a page which one would be entering personal information like their credit card number, their password, or even their social security number. For my idea of Twitter App World, for applications that would charge a small price, https would be essential to making Twitter-users feel that there credit card information remains safe. I noticed https is even used for a second when one logs into their account therefore, it would be a vital piece to creating the App World website.
In our previous discussion to networks, the importance of digital color and hexadecimal color was reviewed. This is yet another key factor of creating the new Twitter App World website and is even important for the Twitter website (or any website for that matter!). When one writes code to create a website, the hexadecimal color must be written correctly and understood to create the color one wishes to portray. Seeing as Twitter is such a customizable site, digital color and graphics are a fun way to do this.

Week #6 - Review Blog Post

While scoping the Internet for professional bloggers, Duck Tape Marketing, a blogging site created by John Jantsch caught my eye for a few reasons. Being a student of communications, reading a blog about the importance of marketing, social media, and advertising is extremely relevant to my studies and his opinions are similar to my own views. After flipping through the first few pages, Jantsch's blog post from October 3rd labelled "3 Ways to Use Twitter to More Deeply Engage Influential Prospects" grabbed my attention. Relating well to my Entrepreneurship Idea, this blog post discusses the influence of Twitter in today's world and ways to improve one's marketability through its utilization.
Jantsch comments about how Twitter is slowly getting lost amongst today's other growing and popular social media sites. He seems to understand the importance of social media in the business and technological world we live in and comes up with a few ways to improve ones presence on Twitter. I'm not quite sure I agree with Jantsch when he comments on Twitter's decreasing popularity, but I do agree that lacking something exciting and new. At the rate other social media sites are growing like Facebook, FourSquare, Google+, and LinkedIn, Twitter needs to step its game up.
Although Jantsch comments more about what we can do as active Twitter users to improve and enhance our social media experience, I believe the improvement needs to come from the other side. This is why I have changed my Entrepreneurship Project Idea. Instead of upgrading the entire site of Twitter to "Twitter+", I have decided to invent a Twitter App Store. In relation to our discussion in lecture this week, application stores are widely popular and exponentially growing. I believe if Twitter had one, it would be a huge hit. The musical tweeting, resume add option, and voice recognition tweeting option I came up with, would all be individual apps that could be downloaded. This would help distinguish and customize each of our Twitter profiles even more than they already are to our followers. Similar to the iPhone or Droid App stores, a compensation could be even made by charging a small price for more sophisticated applications. Overall I believe this could be a great improvement to Twitter and the push it needs to make it the number one social media site around.

Week #5 - Storage: Bits vs. Bytes
In this week's class discussion, we learned about the differences between bits and bytes in terms of computer images and sounds. Every time we visit a webpage, look at a picture, listen to our favorite songs, or run an application, many of us are oblivious to the fact that it takes a certain amount of bytes for the computer to process the information. Storage is what makes our computers do what they do and without it we could neither run our applications nor run our operating system for that matter. We also learned that these small units of data run by the binary digit system and that different prefixes indicate different measures of storage space.
In relation to my Entrepreneurship Project Idea, the concept of bits and bytes is extremely relevant due to the fact that you must use a computer to access Twitter and all computers operate by the usage of bites and bytes. When using the Musical Tweeting option, you could be listening to most likely a wave or MP3 file. Similar to the beginning of class when we listened to the two audio clips of Dave Matthews, these two different types of audio files are both used depending on the circumstance. Although the wave file should sound better because they have more storage space available, we heard no difference after both files were played. This is "the beauty of MP3 files" as Professor Rubin put it.
At the end of class, things were put into prospective for us when we learned that Google processes 24 Petabytes everyday. Although Twitter might not have the same search engine capabilities as Google, its usage and popularity is immense and continually rising. The amount of bytes Twitter uses everyday is most likely also a hefty number. For something like my project idea, Twitter+ would require more storage space and would processes more than the current Twitter site would in order to run efficiently. Therefore the amount of bytes required would be quite significant to discuss before the site is upgraded.

Week #4 - Input and Output
In this week of lecture, we discussed the importance of input and output technology for computers. In my last blog post I mentioned how a sound card was vital to listening to music whether through ear buds, internal speakers, or external speakers. This remains relevant to my Musical Tweeting Idea. Every time someone tweets a new song, your going to want to preview it and without speakers or headphones this would not be possible. We also covered a decent amount of material on Google 411 and Google Wallet. Google 411 utilizes voice recognition to make finding phone numbers and addresses a piece of cake. If voice recognition can be so successful in other areas of the web, why not for Twitter as well?
Since people are always on the go today, if there was a way to update your Twitter through the use of voice recognition on one's cell phone, tweeting and musical tweeting could be made that much easier. Week #3 - Hardware and Computer Forensics
During last week's lectures, Professor Rubin spoke about the intricacies of computer hardware and the shocking but fascinating truth about computer forensics. In relation to my Entrepreneurship Project Idea, hardware plays an important factor into the "musical tweeting" application while computer forensics reminded me of important precautions to take with the "add resume" option.
In order to have an input and output of sound coming from a computer, a sound card must be bought and installed. Having a sound card allows you to plug in headphones or a microphone to produce or receive sound. Therefore when using the musical tweeting option on Twitter, one could listen to the music they find on other's twitter accounts either through the speakers of there computer or headphones which they would plug into the jack of the sound card. Whether your using the musical tweeting option or not, having a sound card is vital for computer users who listen to a lot of music. It also gives people the ability to plug in speakers so they can amplify the sound there computer produces.

Therefore going along with my resume option on Twitter, I would make sure this document stayed a secure file and did not ask for personal identification information like one's social security number. Week #2 - Privacy and Excel
After last weeks lectures on Privacy on the Web and the use of Excel, I considered my own Entrepreneurship Project Idea further by relating it to our discussions. In terms of privacy, Twitter has made it an option for its users to protect their profiles from non-followers. Since I personally make my tweets private for my own protection, I would hate to have the unique ability to tweet my music selections and have it be inaccessible to non-followers. Therefore, along with my original Entrepreneurship Project Idea of creating a function to tweet a song that produces a link with an audio clip on Twitter, I would also add the ability to personalize whether these tweets were private or of access to the public.
An important part of creating the Musical Tweeting idea for me was that potential followers could be found based on overlapping interest in favorite music styles or artists. With the privacy function, I think this inhibits the purpose of the Musical Tweeting option. The current Twitter privacy option cannot hide specific tweets but only your entire page. Therefore I would create an option on Twitter specifically for the public view of the Musical Tweeting. If people still felt the need to keep their musical tastes private, this could be an option too. Ultimately, I think it would be important to allow people who want their Twitters to remain private (like myself) but allow others to see solely their music posts, to have this option.
In terms of the lecture on Excel, I see no way spreadsheets can be helpfully integrated into my project although it gave me a good addition to my idea. It relates back to Rubin's previous lecture on Twitter and how it is becoming more of a place for searching for job opportunities and internships. I made this connection when Professor Rubin mentioned that Excel tasks like Pivot Tables, Charts/Graphs, and Cell Functions are all valuable things to put on your resume. Therefore I could see it being quite helpful for Twitter to make a function of adding your resume onto your Twitter profile (possibly in the biography section) for potential employees to market themselves better. Week #1 - My Project Idea and Social Media
For my Entrepreneurship Project, I have decided pursue the area of social media. Seeing as it something that plays a large part in my life, I believe I have a decent amount of experience with its functions and abilities. In my opinion, Twitter is a fairly basic social media site. You log on, tweet your current feelings or what you might do later, maybe post a TwitPic, try to catch up on your friends tweets, and then log off. But what if there was a way to integrate more than just current moods and little blurps of information? Seeing as Twitter has made it already possible to tweet pictures, why not be able to tweet your favorite song or what your currently listening to? My Entrepreneurial Idea is for Twitter to create a new type of trending for sharing music. Being a person who can't go a day without listening to my favorite song, it is something I would enjoy sharing with my friends while I tweet. After one would normally post on twitter, the user would type a "hashtag" and the current song they are listening to. After the tweet is posted, the song would appear with a link to audio clip on iTunes or YouTube along with the artist and song name. Being able to share your music with your followers would not only individualize tweeting more but could help with the promotion of artists on Twitter. Twitter could be the starting location for the newest artist tracks for people to preview and tweet about. This could not only spike interest in upcoming artists but help people find new Twitter followers through commonality in their music taste through trending.
My Entrepreneurship Project Idea relates back well to the content Professor Rubin covered in our previous lectures of class on Social Media as well as the Twitter Lab we just recently submitted (Lab #2). In the beginning of class, we discussed why people have started using Twitter. Some join to find and connect with people who have similar interests, others join to look for jobs, while even some people turn to Twitter before they turn on the news to find out breaking information about our country. For whatever reason people use Twitter, it has become more popular in the past few years and it continues to grow.
I believe Twitter has great potential and has done extremely well for the time it has been alive but in order for the hype to stay, something new and exciting must happen. We also spoke in lecture about how competing social media sites like Facebook and the latest Google Plus are constantly upgrading their sites to attract more users as well. This is why I believe my idea of music trending would be so effective in terms of getting the social media world even more excited about Twitter than they already are. In order to compete with these sites, something new and innovative must be brought to the table.
